The next-generation IT governance system project for Busan Bank, which began last October and was carried out in two phases, has successfully gone live.
With this project, STEG has added another case of IT governance that spans the entire IT lifecycle—from PPM (Portfolio and Project Management) to ITAM (Asset Management) and ITSM. We also owe a great debt of gratitude to the employees who worked tirelessly on this challenging project at the BNK IT Center located outside Busan. Thank you sincerely.
Recently, with the financial sector’s transition to cloud, open banking, and MyData initiatives, the touchpoints of IT systems that financial institutions must manage have expanded significantly. Consequently, building external integration systems has become increasingly important, along with the need for integrated IT service quality measurement and proactive IT service management to prevent incidents before they occur.
Furthermore, as regulatory standards in the financial sector become stricter, the complexity of operations and the resources that need to be managed continue to grow. Advanced ITSM capabilities are now essential to ensure smooth compliance.
In response, Busan Bank rebuilt its ITSM system to establish a workflow-based IT service framework.
First, Busan Bank implemented efficient IT governance through centralization, standardization, simplification, and automation of IT operations. It also established a foundation for compliance with various regulations (such as supervisory rules and internal accounting management) and for automatically generating and presenting related reports.
Additionally, the bank implemented sustainable execution strategies across the entire IT operations lifecycle—from IT service planning, budgeting, and project execution to operational transition and performance management. It also defined standards for estimating workloads for all IT service activities and enabled real-time monitoring of resource status to improve productivity management.
Through this project, Busan Bank identified and automated manual management tasks, standardized duplicate processes to reduce unnecessary workloads, and established measures for process improvement. It also standardized testing phases and developed control procedures and measures for programs.
