Successful Launch of Heungkuk Life Insurance ITSM/IT Governance ‘Heung-IT-SM’
Heungkuk Life Insurance announced on the 25th that it has recently built an ITSM system as part of its IT service management framework renewal project to strengthen digital competitiveness.
The newly launched ITSM system was named “Heung-IT-SM” by localizing the term “H-IT Service Management System,” symbolizing a new change in Heungkuk Life Insurance’s IT culture.
“Heung-IT-SM” not only improves the inconveniences of the previous ITSM system but also systematizes project management, prioritizing the enhancement of work efficiency and convenience for employees.
Kang Min-Seok, CIO of Heungkuk Life Insurance, shared the following outlook regarding the launch of “Heung-IT-SM”:
First, in terms of the service lifecycle—strategy, design, transition, operation, and continuous improvement—the system enables sharing, verification, and feedback across all processes, including IT budget planning and execution, supplier and service level checks, project management, service requests, and service improvement. This ensures transparency across IT operations, which Kang described as a cornerstone for establishing a transparent corporate culture through IT.
Second, by verifying SLA (Service Level Agreement) and IT service productivity, the system can guarantee service adequacy and quality. This is expected to foster mutual trust between IT and users, enable effective resource allocation and control, and establish efficient communication channels.
Third, in relation to the internal accounting control system, the foundation has been laid for transparent data processing, proper task allocation, and change approvals to provide relevant information for general IT controls over financial and related systems. This also improves efficiency in responding to audits.
Fourth, by utilizing “Heung-IT-SM,” the company plans to eliminate paper documents previously prepared and submitted for reporting on plans, progress, and performance, thereby improving reporting culture through system-based processes and marking the starting point of smart work.
Finally, the launch of “Heung-IT-SM” aligns with the practical measures announced at the recent ESG management declaration ceremony in the insurance industry, such as promoting eco-friendly culture and fostering transparent corporate practices. It is also expected to serve as a starting point for digital transformation to secure digital competitiveness.
Following the launch, Kang Min-Seok, CIO, presented a plaque of appreciation to STEG Inc., the specialized ITSM system provider that built “Heung-IT-SM.”
Im Hyun-Gil, CEO of STEG Inc., emphasized:
“In the future, issues related to compliance with the Electronic Financial Supervisory Regulations and internal accounting control systems, as well as the establishment of IT governance frameworks, are expected to spread rapidly. STEG will continue to contribute significantly to building IT governance in a unified platform environment for digital transformation through the development of more innovative solutions.”
