STEG (CEO Hyun-Gil Lim) and PatCatBIO (CEO Hyun-Chang Kim) announced on the 27th that they have signed a strategic MOU to develop and commercialize a big data and cloud-based platform service for personalized pet food information using genetic data.

The service, named “DCatgene,” is an SNS-based pet platform where all information about pets and their owners is connected and shared. It is a specialized integrated platform that provides personalized health information, food, and snacks based on pet genetic data to help improve hereditary conditions.

PatCatBIO is a company specializing in genetic testing and analysis for pets (dogs and cats). Through DNA analysis obtained from genetic testing, PatCatBIO processes data to identify hereditary diseases passed down from parents.

STEG, a developer of IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions, will leverage its low-code/no-code (LCNC) platform to build and develop the system, enabling fast delivery of analysis results and personalized data services.

PatCatBIO plans to expand beyond mobile platforms into offline businesses, including pet memorial (funeral) services, and strengthen branding through unified interior design and uniforms. The company also aims to grow into a franchise model focused on customer service and marketing.

A PatCatBIO representative stated:

“The plan includes all processes from service application to results, in collaboration with platform developer STEG.”

According to the Korea Rural Economic Institute, the domestic pet-related industry, which was worth about 2 trillion KRW in 2017, has grown to 3.7 trillion KRW this year and is expected to reach 6 trillion KRW by 2027.

In this market environment, PatCatBIO will use its expertise in pet genetic testing and analysis to provide customized food and snack information, while STEG will utilize its LCNC development platform to rapidly commercialize this information service as a platform.

Hyun-Gil Lim, CEO of STEG, said:

“With our no-code platform solution, anyone with a business idea can easily and quickly turn it into a service without needing developers. We aim to help startups like PatCatBIO, which have great ideas but lack development resources, and contribute to building the domestic service platform market.”

Hyun-Chang Kim, CEO of PatCatBIO, added:

“Through STEG’s excellent no-code platform, we expect the pet genetic testing-based personalized food information service to quickly establish itself as a reliable and accurate service for Korea’s 15 million pet owners. After the official launch, we hope it will evolve into a comprehensive health lifecycle management service for pets and their owners.”
