STEG (CEO Lim Hyun-gil), an IT service management (ITSM) company, announced on the 11th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Digital Government Association (Chairman Kang Dong-seok) to successfully operate a global certification program for IT Service Management based on international standards.
This MOU aims to systematically cultivate professionals with world-class IT service operation and management capabilities and strengthen Korea's digital competitiveness.
STEG leads the training program through a partnership with EXIN, a global IT certification organization. EXIN was established in 1984 by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Currently, approximately 3 million IT professionals worldwide are certified by EXIN. As the Korean accredited organization for the internationally recognized ITSM certification, "EXIN IT Service Management Foundation based on ISO/IEC 20000:2018," STEG encompasses the entire process, including training, testing, and certification acquisition.
The international standard-based ITSM global certification course is scheduled to be fully operational starting in 2026. Reflecting the needs of the industry, the course incorporates both theory and practical case studies and exercises to enhance ITSM skills. Consultants with extensive experience in ITSM projects of enterprises and public institutions will deliver the lectures, along with exclusive Korean-language textbooks, mock exams, and review sessions.
Tailored training for public institutions is also available. In preparation for the mandatory implementation of standard operating procedures for information systems next year, the program offers the "Ministry of the Interior and Safety Information System Standard Operating Procedure Training and Design Practice" for IT personnel in public institutions. This program aims to enhance the quality of IT service management and advancement of systems in the public sector.
The Korea Digital Government Association will oversee the overall operation of this training program and actively support the implementation of digital government policies. Given the recent strong consensus on the need for IT service continuity, the association plans to cultivate experts capable of supporting this vision, thereby contributing to a solid foundation for digital government and improving the quality of public and private IT services.
STEG CEO Lim Hyun-gil stated, "Through this agreement, we have established a foundation for Korea to acquire world-class ITSM expertise and receive objective verification. By leveraging our extensive experience in ITSM implementation across finance, enterprise, and public, we will significantly contribute to fostering domestically trained professionals who will strengthen Korea's digital competitiveness."
